accessibility feature to allow users to change colours to a dark theme
Product Suggestion
Add a dark theme option to Heresafe for users with low vision.
Problem Statement
The bright pink sidebar and white backgrounds have been flagged as an issue for users with low vision — the high brightness/contrast combo causes glare and eye strain, making the platform hard to use for extended periods. There's currently no way to switch to a darker, lower-glare theme.
Suggested Improvements
Add a theme toggle under the user's name dropdown in the sidebar (where "My Exports" and "Log out" currently sit) — e.g. a new "Display" or "Theme" option in that same menu.
Dark theme should tone down the bright pink and replace white backgrounds with dark surfaces, while keeping enough brand colour to still look like Heresafe.
Should apply across the whole platform, not just one screen.
Available to all users, and saved to their account so it persists between logins.
Would also be good to add adjustable text size at the same time while we're in this area.
Potential Benefits
Fixes the specific glare/eye strain issue raised around the pink and white.
Better usability for low vision or light-sensitive users.
Less eye strain for everyone, especially on long shifts or in dark environments.
Supports accessibility compliance.
